Accelya launches FLX Recover to transform airline passenger recovery

Lisbon, WORLD AVIATION FESTIVAL – October 13, 2026

Powered by FLX AIViator and built using Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, the open and interoperable solution uses agentic AI to coordinate passenger recovery across existing airline systems while keeping airlines firmly in control.

Accelya, a global leader in airline software, today announced the launch of FLX Recover, a new agentic AI-powered solution designed to help airlines recover passengers faster, more intelligently and at scale during disruption.

Powered by FLX AIViator, Accelya’s AI intelligence layer, FLX Recover uses specialized AI agents to assess disruptions, evaluate multiple recovery options, recommend actions with reasoning and coordinate passenger recovery from the first disruption signal through to resolution.

Reflecting Accelya’s open-by-design approach to agentic AI, FLX Recover works across an airline’s existing technology environment without requiring airlines to replace the systems they already use or adopt another closed technology layer.

Built on Amazon Web Services (AWS) using Amazon Bedrock AgentCore and engineered with RapidScale, FLX Recover builds on Accelya’s work with AWS and Vista Equity Partners’ Agentic Factory to bring production-grade agentic AI into airline operations.

When a flight is delayed, cancelled or rescheduled, airlines face a complex chain of decisions across operations, commercial teams and customer service. The scale is significant: in August 2026, Cirium reported almost 60,000 flight cancellations worldwide¹, while air traffic flow (ATFM) delays across Europe exceeded four million minutes, according to EUROCONTROL².

Behind every disruption are passengers whose journeys need to be recovered, often in real time and across multiple teams and systems that were not designed to work together.

FLX Recover changes that model.

Working in real time, its AI agents can assess the impact of a disruption, determine passenger priorities, evaluate multiple recovery options and coordinate the actions that follow, from reaccommodation and passenger care to communications and downstream financial workflows.

If a hub departure is cancelled, for example, FLX Recover can work through affected passengers in parallel, considering available flights, onward connections, interline alternatives, cost, care and assistance options, loyalty value and the airline’s own commercial priorities.

Depending on policies set by the airline, FLX Recover can recommend an action for human approval or execute it automatically, with the airline defining the boundaries within which the agents operate.

This enables airlines to evaluate more recovery options, reach decisions faster and apply their policies more consistently across complex disruption scenarios.

Sam Gilliland, Chief Executive Officer at Accelya, said:

“Disruption is a critical moment in an airline’s relationship with its customers. The challenge isn’t simply finding a recovery option; it’s making the right decision quickly and consistently across thousands of passenger circumstances, then carrying it through.

“FLX Recover uses agentic AI to move beyond recommendations and coordinate recovery across passenger servicing, Orders, communications and financial workflows, while working with the airline’s existing technology.

“The airline remains in control, defining the policies, where actions can be automated and where human approval is required. That lets operational teams focus their judgement where it matters most.”

Recovering the complete passenger journey

FLX Recover takes a passenger-first approach to disruption, looking beyond the next available seat to reconstruct the wider customer journey.

It can consider onward connections, loyalty status, group and family travel, special assistance requirements, seats, baggage, ancillary purchases and compensation obligations alongside the operational and commercial impact of each recovery option.

This becomes increasingly important as airlines move towards Offers and Orders. More personalized Orders also need to be recovered and serviced when journeys change. FLX Recover extends Accelya’s Modern Airline Retailing capabilities into disruption, helping airlines recover and service the complete customer journey rather than simply rebook individual transactions.

Open and interoperable by design

As airline retailing enters the agentic era, Accelya believes openness will become increasingly important. Agentic AI creates the greatest value when it can work across the systems, data and workflows that already power an airline.

FLX Recover is therefore designed to work across an airline’s existing technology environment rather than requiring wholesale platform replacement.

Openness is fundamental to FLX Recover. PSS-agnostic by design, it can operate as part of FLX ONE or integrate with an airline’s existing Passenger Service Systems, Order Management platforms, CRM, communications and operational applications through open interfaces. This gives airlines the freedom to introduce new technology across the environment they already use, while remaining firmly in control of their systems, data and recovery decisions.

This gives airlines a practical path to introduce agentic AI into passenger recovery while retaining control over their business rules, technology choices and transformation roadmap.

Built with AWS and engineered with RapidScale

FLX Recover is built on AWS using Amazon Bedrock AgentCore and engineered with RapidScale for secure, scalable operation across complex airline technology environments.

Amazon Bedrock AgentCore provides capabilities including identity and observability as AI agents move beyond generating recommendations towards taking actions across enterprise systems. Airlines determine which scenarios can be automated, which require human review and the boundaries within which agents can operate, with actions logged and reviewable.

Accelya worked with RapidScale, an AWS Premier Services Partner and holder of the AWS Agentic AI Consulting Services Competency, to bring FLX Recover into production.

Together, the companies bring complementary capabilities: Accelya provides the airline domain intelligence, product and workflow orchestration; AWS provides the cloud and agentic AI foundation; and RapidScale provides the specialist engineering expertise required to bring the solution into production at airline scale.

Duane Barnes, CEO at RapidScale, said:

“Agentic AI creates value when it delivers measurable business outcomes inside real-world operations. By combining Accelya’s airline expertise with RapidScale’s innovative capabilities and AWS technology, FLX Recover materializes a complex vision into a secure, production-ready solution.

“The result is faster disruption recovery, less manual effort and more consistent passenger experiences, while giving airlines the governance and control they need to operate at scale.”

FLX Recover is available now from Accelya and will be showcased at World Aviation Festival in Lisbon, October 13–15, 2026. The solution will be also available through AWS Marketplace.
