Accelya Transforms New Sindbad Loyalty Program for Oman Air

Barcelona, Spain / Muscat, Oman – October 25, 2021

  • Oman Air completes migration of Sindbad loyalty program onto Accelya´s FLX Passenger Platform.
  • Launched on 8th September, Sindbad’s new loyalty program enables members to earn miles based on the value of tickets using Accelya’s industry leading proration engine – as well as on all eligible purchases including ancillary products such as seat selection, checked-in bags and lounge access.
  • The partnership extends the existing Accelya technology footprint in Oman Air from Offer to Settlement.

Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, and Accelya, a leading global provider of technology solutions to the air transport industry, today announced that Oman Air has migrated its loyalty program, Sindbad, to the FLX Passenger Platform.

The Accelya solution combines a 360-degree customer view with loyalty management functionality, providing airlines with complete flexibility to define and evolve their loyalty program according to market needs.

Providing additional value to airline passengers, the Accelya solution enables Sindbad members to earn miles based on the prorated revenue value of the ticket. Members can also earn miles on a broader range of purchases, such as checked-in bags, seat selection, and lounge access.

Oman Air also plans to extend non-air partnerships using a partner portal. The portal enables partner users to self-manage processes quickly, such as enrolments, accruals, redemptions, and voucher verifications based on business requirements.

Bryan Porter, Head of Commercial, EMEA at Accelya commented: “We are seeing airlines look for more flexibility in running their loyalty programs as there is an intensified focus on giving their customers meaningful value. By enabling Sindbad members to earn miles on ancillary purchases and how much they spend on their flight, Oman Air is leading the way in loyalty innovation and is a standout example of this trend.”

Abdulaziz Al Rashdi, Vice President Marketing from Oman Air added: “We are very pleased to confirm that we’ve migrated over to the loyalty program of Accelya and are now live. With a comprehensive range of functionality and integration capabilities that include integration with the Accelya proration engine, this gives us the critical flexibility we need to build our loyalty vision. As a direct result of this implementation, we were very excited recently to launch our enhanced Sindbad loyalty program for members, allowing them to earn and spend points in exciting new ways.”

This development builds on a long-standing partnership between the two companies, with the airline already currently using modules of Accelya´s FLX Passenger Platform to audit sales, reducing ‘fare abuse’, and to speed-up payment from credit card sales. Oman Air also uses Accelya´s market leading revenue accounting capabilities on the FLX Cargo Platform.

Oman Air went live with the new solution on 8th September 2021.
