IATA DDRS – Unlocking the Value of Retailing

The value of customer-centric airline retailing was front and center at the IATA DDRS event in Madrid (26 – 28 October 2021), and the Accelya team was on hand to drive the conversation. Get up-to-date in this wrap-up featuring insights from Acceyla’s Jim Davidson, Tye Radcliffe, and Manish Nagpal. Over three sessions, they explore how airlines, and the wider industry, can unlock retailing potential.

Jim Davidson, Chief Product Officer – TECHNOLOGY PROVIDERS ON THE SPOT

In this panel session, IATA’s Yanik Hoyles asks challenging questions of the industry’s most prominent technology players, Accelya, Amadeus, and Sabre, on their plans to support the industry. Discover how redefining the concept of NDC from an API to a transformational movement that transcends end-to-end retailing is critical to enabling change. According to Jim Davidson, the most challenging thing for customer-centric retailing is managing the booking through the entire transaction lifecycle and settling it.

Tye Radcliffe, VP, Product Strategy- Offer Group – THE PATH TO FREEDOM

Tye Radcliffe takes the stage to talk about modern retailing capabilities and what it means to become retailing independent. How can airlines leverage data and resources to take complete control over the execution of their strategy? And how do cake and Coleridge factor into the story?

Manish Nagpal, SVP Product Strategy – WHAT TECHNOLOGY IS ALREADY AVAILABLE FOR DYNAMIC RETAILING?

Moderator, Daniel Friedli, asks technology players if they can deliver on their marketing promises. Manish’s answer is firm: “We have airlines in production not only doing continuous pricing but also distributing it at scale, with more than 30% of bookings going through NDC, doing orders, servicing, as well as accounting it. That’s the reality for us.”
